Service Ministries

Altar Guild –Women and men of the congregation help at church services by preparing and cleaning up the altar and keeping the candles filled with oil. One or two members bake the communion bread and one member does all the washing and ironing of the linens so these things are always prepared for your use. There is a short training and a manual for memory jogging…we all need it! Altar Guild is a quiet but satisfying devotion, serving both God and the St. Aidan’s family.

  • Altar guild members are usually scheduled one or two months in the year.
  • Contact Alice Pollock if interested

Card Ministry – Over the years St. Aidan’s has had a card ministry, sending cards to parishioners for illnesses and special events. Cards and stamps are ready for use.

  • Time commitment varies
  • See Gail Greenisen or Alice Pollock if interested

Cleaning - St. Aidan’s building is cleaned entirely by volunteers. Duties include weekly vacuuming, dusting, floors and restroom checks. You can do as much or as little as you are able to do. Twice a year, there is a church-wide annual cleaning event, open to all who want to help.

  • Cleaning is usually scheduled once every 6 weeks.
  • Contact Linda Weber if interested.

Needle Workers – The needleworkers of the Diocese meet six to eight times a year in each other’s churches on a Saturday morning to sew and repair the linens used for church services. It is not necessary to sew a fine seam or be an accomplished needle worker to join. The Needle Workers also maintain a donation closet to aid any parish in need. You learn about various linens and vestments as well as having the opportunity to visit other churches.

  • Meetings are every other month.
  • Contact Alice Pollock or Micki Hoffmann if interested.

Prayer Chain – A number of parishioners are at-the-ready to pray for the needs of people we know. Sign up to pray for people in need of prayers. It is a phone chain so there is only one call to be made.   Prayer requests can be called in to Pastor Anna or Phyllis Paquette.

  • The number of calls varies throughout the year.
  • Contact Phyllis Paquette if interested

Writing Prayers - Writing the prayers can be a very powerful form of personal devotion. Prayers are written seasonally, with a new set published in each new seasonal liturgical booklet. If you are interested in writing the prayers, please talk with Father Lars. There is a brief instructional booklet that walks writers through the process.

  • Time commitment varies
  • Contact Father Lars

Worship Commission – This group works with Father Lars and our musicians to produce the worship booklets for each of church seasons. Liturgy and prayers are decided on for each season.

  • One meeting each church season
  • Contact Father Las

Counters - Counters are those people who record the collection each Sunday. There is always a team of two counters.   If you are good with numbers this may be the ministry for you.

  • Counters are scheduled about once a month
  • Contact Ann Marsh-Meigs for information
